Practice Cafe 2008

If you recall in April 2007 I wrote a post mentioning how I had helped redesign the Practice Cafe website. Soon after that site was launched we quickly began to realize that the site had many limitations and flaws. The way the site was designed, was not conducive to a lot of growth and there wasn't much flexibility. At the time I was still learning how to design webpages and I did the best I could with the knowledge I had. One of the main flaws of the old site was that it was not very accessible as a website should be. not only that but we realized their was a lot of things we as a company wanted our website to do and say that it wasn't doing, and it was too hard to get it to do those things without redesigning it all together.

So back in July 2007 we decided to start refreshing our site. The last time we tried to do it way too quickly and therefore the site had far too many mistakes. so this time we decided we were going to take it slower and really think it through. After discussing the specific goals we needed the site to achieve I came up with a rough design for the site, shown above (click on the image to view a larger version).

However after further discussion we realized that I wasn't looking at this opportunity as giving myself a blank canvas. This design was only a slight modification of the old site, and I think I was trying to hold on to too many elements of the old flawed site. Another flaw to this design was that we wanted to have the entire waitress still standing to the side on every page of the website, since she has become one of the ways many people recognize our company. So I decided to start fresh, and I came up with a second idea for the website, shown above (click on the image to view a larger version).

Still this new idea didn't seem to really accomplish everything we had in mind. So we began to start to make several tweeks. One major problem was that we wanted the waitress to be one of the first things you saw on every page without having to scroll. We also needed her to be standing on the red checkered floor. So we finally came to a solid design which met all of our goals, at least on a graphics level.

So then we had a team meeting during lunch where we came up with a strong sitemap for the site. In the meeting we discussed in detail the goals we had for our site as far as content was concerned. We came to the conclusion that we wanted our website to be more educational, and informative. We wanted the site to be extremely user friendly, and accessible. Another goal was for our site to be better optimized for search engines.

At the end of that meeting we set a goal to launch the new site in April 2008. So 47 pages later I am happy to now say that the new site has been launched and is happily in it's natural habitat on the world wide interweb here. Please feel free to follow the link and visit the site, and please tell me what you think of the site?

I have to say that this website was very much a collaborative effort, so although most of the design and coding was done by myself, it was only after a lot of brainstorming and other discussions with Joel. Also Angie took on the job of writing and preparing almost all of the copy for the website, and I have to say she did a very beautiful job. She really turned the site into a very educational and informative site. Shara also helped write and prepare the case studies, and all of the partner pages of the website and did an equally fabulous job. Then as a team we all took turns reading, re-reading, and searching the site to catch as many mistakes as we could find and fixing them all the way up until the last moment when I was given the "OK" to set the refreshed site FREE on Thursday April 17, 2008.

Solid Gold

I received a Veer's Solid Gold catalog at work a week or so ago. I usually get these things and quickly flip through them and enjoy all the nice stock photos, "cool stuff for creatives," and in the back they always have a selection of fonts I usually just check the fonts out and wish I could have some of them. I never actually read anything written in them, however this time I actually read some of the paragraphs they had written as fake articles to show off some of the fonts, after breaking out in laughter I began a closer investigation through out the entire catalog and I found a few good ones.

AN UUNLIKELY REUNION
"Guitar legend Dickie Avery announced at a press conference that he and estranged bandmate Philip McCoy will reunite for a concert in Central Park. The duo, whose hits included "Wishing on Stars," "The Love Triangle," and "That Old Hat of Mine, " split in 1978, citing artistic differences. When pressed about the odd timing of the reunion, Avery defended his decision, "Just because Phil has been dead for 10 years doesn't mean we can't reconcile our differences. He never added much anyway."

RAPPER INJURES SELF IN BRAWL
"Central City (March 20, 2008) - Obscure hip hop artist Owen Daniels, known to a small group of fans as The 10th Wonder, was treated for minor injuries following an altercation with himself outside a downtown nightclub Saturday morning. Though there were not paparazzi on hand to capture the incident, Daniels contacted local media with a statement, "Nobody disrespects me and gets away with it. I've always been my own harshest critic. so then it was on."

A POSITIVE SPIN

Quite the Imagination

So Saturday morning I am laying on the couch with Hannah laying beside me. I'm watching TV and Hannah is munching away on a strawberry pop-tart when all of a sudden I start to here Hannah having a conversation with her pop-tart that went something like this.

Hannah: "Mmmmm, Armf! Armf! Armf!" (that is chomping sounds by the way.)
Pop-tart (In a higher pitched voice): "No! Don't eat me!" as her little hand shakes the pop tart from side to side.
Hannah: "Mmmmm, Armf! Armf! Armf!"

Hannah has been doing really good with her potty training. You might even be able to say that she is already trained. A funny thing we noticed this weekend is whenever I'm around she yells for me to come into the bathroom and sit on the edge of the tub beside her and she talks to me the whole time she is peeing or pooping. However if Heather is around and tries to walk in on her in the bathroom she yells at her saying, "NOOOO! Go check your e-mial!"

It's the funniest thing in the world, she did it again in the middle of the night last night before she went to sleep, and she yelled from her room that she had to go pee, so Heather went to get her out of bed and stuck her head into the bathroom and that is what Hannah yelled to her, and everytime Heather would peek back in the door to check up on her she would repeat the same command.

Hannah has done so well that although we put a pull up on her when she takes a nap and goes down for the night she continuously wakes up dry as can be.

So let's get some Hi-Fives all around for Hannah! (A virtual Hi-Five can be given by way of a comment if you so chose.)

Lifting Spirits

If you are like me and you need something to pick your spirits up after watching UNC lose to Kansas. Especially since the first half UNC forgot to show up to the game. I mean seriously like five minutes into the game I was searching my remote for a reset button. The second half they finally decided to play and came within five but then for some strange reason they decided to make a change in their defense, even though I've always lived under the philosophy that if it aint broke DON'T fix it.

Either way Lykke Li should make you feel a little better, cause that girl CAN SING! But seriously try to get a hold of the actual version, this is a live acoustic version, the version on her album is MUCH better.

Check her out here or here.

Don't Worry There's A Bunny

On the way home from San Antonio Saturday night I begin to hear small subtle grunts filter through my ear from the backseat of our Kia mini van. We had already exited off 35 and were cruising swiftly up 183 on the home stretch. We were so close I could already feel our 500 thread count sheets softly caressing my skin as I sink down into my bed. I turn around to see what was the cause to all the ruckus and I see Hannah with her left hand tightly gripping her right wrist and violently twisting, turning, and pulling as she grunts and groans.

"I can't get it." she softly mutters in between grunts.

"I can't take my hand off! I can't do it." she softly exclaims.

Then she moves her hand up towards her elbow and begins to twist and pull and grunt and groan.

"I can't take off my elbow!" her voice has now taken on a bit of despair and frustration.

"I want to take off my elbow!"

Then she lets out a deep sigh and softly exclaims, "I can't do it."

On Friday I was stretched out on our beat up maroon pleather couch enjoying the madness that takes place in the month of March on CBS. Hannah was standing in front of me dressed in her PJ's straight out of the shower her hair damp with the smell of the Herbal Essence shampoo still fresh in the air. Subconsciously I reach out and begin to softly fiddle faddle and play with her hair. When my little princess of a daughter turns and loudly exclaims, "STOP IT!"

I briefly stop waiting for her to turn back around with her back to me and I begin to run my fingers through her hair. This time in a giggling voice she says, "Stop playing with my hair!"

Now it has officially turned into a game and I go ahead and play right along with her, and when she turns back around I go straight to touching her hair, and each time my fingers touch her hair she turns and giggles and tells me to stop. After about four or five times of repeating this process Hannah folds her arms and says, "Ugh! (letting out a sigh) this is a BIG problem."

How funny is that?

I looked over at Heather and we both just started to bust out laughing. We are still unsure as to where she learned that expression from.

Click on either image to see all of our easter pictures. We drove down to San Antonio on Saturday to hang out since Kelly was in town. Hannah had a lot of fun and was crying when we left because she didn't want to leave Trevor. They played together almost the entire time, not to mention all the fun Easter activities Kelly had planned out. We started the day out with coloring easter eggs in the back yard until we got forced inside by bees taking over. Ethan went out to kill as many as he could and he finally retreated as well after reporting 40 deaths and several other casualties. We then moved our little party to the front yard where we hooked up a sprinkler and had a little fun in the water. We didn't bring any spare outfits for Hannah so she had to play in her diaper until she decided to take it off and go skinny dipping. Trevor was nice enough to let her wear his bathing suit he wasn't using. While the kids were playing in the water, Kelly and my mom were stuffing plastic eggs with candy. As the kids dried off Ethan fresh out of battle hid all the eggs in the front yard. Then we let the three little rascals lose collecting as many eggs as they could jam into their new furry baskets that Grandma was nice enough to purchase for them all at Target. Matt came through with the Golden Chick for lunch (even though he was late as always) and Kelly finished off our day by cooking up some spiral ham, scalloped potatoes, and asparagus.

My only complaint is that my Mom never has anything to drink in the fridge. Ethan has this like secret stash of sodas in his bedroom, but even to sneak one of those out means you either have to stick it in the freezer and wait for it to get cold or drink it luke warm because they also have no ice in the house.

Sometimes

"There’s a mouse in the cupboard that nibbles your crumbs
And you talk to him every night
You say, “Hey, Mr. Whiskers, I’m bored and I’m numb
You can stay if you just treat me right.”
Just last year you were fortunate baby
And your friends circled around you in groves
Are they thinking of you? Maybe just maybe
But not a one has bothered to phone
Tell me where oh where did they go
"

"When your family calls you make nice to them all
And assure them you’re fine and you’re great

Then you cry in the bath, cry so hard that you laugh
Then you watch television til late
Who do you need? Nobody.
You’re lucky nobody’s around

I can pour my own drinks
No thanks, Mister. Go on, and get out of town..."

Sometimes I wonder if this song was written about me, sometimes I wonder if I have any friends, the friends I do have I often wonder if they even really like me, or just tolerate me when I randomly call them, or grace them with my presence. I don't really have anyone I hang out with, and I haven't for quite some time now.

Sometimes I wonder if you really need friends? Perhaps these thoughts are me trying to justify my coolness and convince myself that friends don't define cool (meaning the more friends you have, the cooler you are). Sometimes I can't blame people for not wanting to be around me. Sometimes I think that as long as Hannah wants to kick it with me, then I am good to go.

Sometimes I wonder if anyone even reads my blog. Sometimes I wonder if it even matters if anyone reads my blog.

Sometimes I wonder...

Bracket 2008

Today was selection Sunday. I haven't filled out my bracket just yet, I plan on doing that at some point tomorrow. I did however watch UNC win the ACC tournament today, and solidify their number 1 seat in the NCAA tournament. Then I caught the second half of the Houston Vs Lakers game after I woke up from a little nap after church and with this win against the Lakers it pushed Houston's winning streak to 22 in a row. I still am a bit unsure as to how Houston is pulling this off without Yao Ming.

*UPDATE*
I filled out my bracket last night and here is how I see it playing out, although I have a few doubts about some of my picks there is one thing I am beyond certain of, and that is who the champion will be. Without further banter I give you my picks:

East
UNC
Tennessee

Midwest
Kansas
Georgetown

South
Memphis
Texas

West
UCLA
Duke

The four teams making it to San Antonio will be:

East
UNC

Midwest
Georgetown

South
Memphis

West
UCLA

Then in the finals it will be

UNC
Memphis

And UNC will be going home as the 2008 NCAA Champions! Please feel free to give me your picks and also a little friendly trash talking is always welcome on this blog. So if you disagree with some of my picks please drop some knowledge on me and anyone else reading.

Yellow

I finally got The Darjeeling Limited, the latest installment of Wes Anderson. One of the main reasons I love Wes Anderson's movies is because he puts painstaking detail into each and every scene. Everything going on from the position of the actor, objects in the background, colors, lighting, music, every aspect is done with real thought, and is on purpose. With this movie, I noticed a whole new aspect to this detail oriented writer/director. The entire movie consisted of a relatively small color scheme. The entire movie was primarily yellow overall, with compliments of blue, black, white, and grays, then with touches of red. This is Wes Anderson's fifth movie, and it seems that he has chosen yellow to brand himself, as well as one particular font, Futura Bold. In Life Aquatic all the credits and text were set in yellow, and again this movie did the same thing. Only this movie went even further than only the credits, and text, but even the actors themselves seemed to take on a bit more of a yellow tone to their skin, and the background as well, and almost everywhere you see yellow. In the middle of the movie it tends to become more blue, and the end of the movie is dominated by red, but the yellow never leaves. It was beautiful.

I also thought Wes Anderson has always chosen the perfect moments to use slow motion, and once again in this movie he chose the perfect moments to put the movie in slow motion, not only that, but the music throughout the movie perfectly fits the scene. The music in general really sets a tone, and also helps tell the story.

The story itself is wonderfully written, by the end of the movie you are really able to relate to the characters, and truly understand all of their quirks. The splashes of subtle humor are peppered throughout the movie making it what I like to call a smart humor. Most comedies seem to consist of stupid humor.

For an example, one of the characters introduces a book he wrote to his two brothers, and asks them to read it. So one of the brothers begins reading it, and upon conclusion he says, "I thought it was really good, but I don't appreciate how the part where I yelled at the mechanic, that never happened."

Then the brother who wrote it looks up at him and says, "The characters are all fictional."

Five

My top five players in the NBA so far this season, in no paticular order, are:

Kobe Bryant
Steve Nash
Tim Duncan
Kevin Garnett
Dirk Nowitzki

One of those five deserve the MVP, but if I was to cast my vote right now it would be Kobe Bryant (even though I hate the Lakers)

The Coward Bobby Ford

I finally was able to rent The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and since the moment the film ended it has stayed on my mind. I really loved this movie, and how much historical details they included in the film. It is very well narrated, the cinemotagraphy was outstanding, and the landscapes and scenery in the film were beautiful.

I heard a lot of critics talk about how long and slow the movie was, but it didn't ever seem neither when i was watching it. I thought the movie and the story really flowed. Not too mention both Brad Pitt and Casey Afflek (who is 100 times the actor his LAME brother ever was and ever will be) gave stellar performances, and very very believable. The film did a great job of developing the characters and giving you a real inside look at how everything developed and how and why everything happened the way it did. I don't recall the language being very bad, nor was it very violent. This is not to say that it is neccessarily a "family" film, but it is definetly worth anyones time watching it.

The other aspect of the film that I felt really made it an enjoyable experience was the music in the movie, it really helped set the tone throughout the entire film, also the landscapes and scenery in general really helped with the tone of the movie.

It even provoked quite a bit of a discussion between Heather and I about the movie afterwards over why Bobby Ford was called a coward, she felt that he did the right thing, me on the other hand, I believe he was definitely a coward. Anyone who has also seen the movie, feel free to share your feelings in the comments or email me and we can talk about it.

I can't wait to watch the movie for a second and maybe a third time, the only problem is I am way behind on my list of must sees to be able to do that at this time, especially since March madness and the play-offs are quickly approaching.

Fitting In

Friday night I got home from work and Heather left to go hang out with Angie and Tara for a girls night. So it was me and Hannah hanging out together at home. So we left and bought a pizza at Little Ceasars and then came home ate, then I gave her a bath, then we just hung out. Around 9:00 pm Hannah came out of my room carrying one of my shoes, she set it down and said, "I gotta put on the shoe."

So she put it on, stood up and said, "I need the other one."

Then she looked over and saw a pair of Heather's shoes and said, "Oh theres the other one."

She stumbled slowly over to where the shoe was all the while still wearing my shoe. So I ran and grabbed the camera and was able to capture a few photos in the moment. She walked around in them for awhile.

After a few little tantrums (which I can't even remember what they were over.) She finally started falling asleep on the couch, so I asked her if she was ready to go to bed, and I picked her up and laid her down around 10:00 pm.

Then I started working some more on redesigning my website until Heather came home around 11:00 pm.

Saturday afternoon we decided to go rent a movie. Heather was feeling a little depressed, and wanted something to lift her spirits up. So we decided on a perfect movie called The Martian Child.

John cusack plays the lead roll of a widowed author who just finished publishing a popular Sci-Fi novel which is in the process of being turned into a movie, at the same time he is supposed to be in the process of writing the sequel to that book. He get's a call from a foster home to come and look into adopting a child. I believe that he and his wife had started the process before she had passed away, and he just never terminated the process. When he receives the call, he is a little apprehensive about continuing on with adopting a child, now that his wife died.

He finally decides to go visit the child who, when he arrives, is walking around in a cardboard box with one small slit cut in the top allowing him to see. John Cusack's character finds out that the boy believes he is a Martian, and the reason he wont come out of the box is because he believes he is allergic to the sun. John Cusack being a "different kid" when he was this kids age begins to relate, and after three or four other visits, decides to adopt the kid. What takes place next is a very moving and entertaining story and film. It is a great feel good family movie, and I highly recommend it to anyone reading this.

Super Man Can't Dunk?

Although Dewight Howard put on a GREAT show, and had me cracking up and rolling all over the couch and floor with laughter as he took off his jersy to reveal a "Super Man" shirt, and had a cheerleader bring him out a cape, what followed all though very exciting and impressive, was not in any way a DUNK! So therefore should NOT of recieved ANY points as a dunk in a dunk contest.

I am also in no way trying to present an argument that Dwight Howard should of lost, because his first and second to last dunks were sufficient enough to secure the win. I do have to say that Dwight put on a GREAT show, and this dunk contest was one of the best ones I've watched in a LONG, LONG time.

Robbed!

For any of you out there that watched the All*Star game Sunday night, you know that my man Ray Allen got robbed for the MVP. He played 17 minutes and hit 5 threes at the end of the game to give the East a win.

P.S: Those uniforms were UGLY!

Volcano

Hannah has a new imaginary friend, sometimes she runs from it, other times she picks it up and hands it to me to hold. She frequently talks to it, and tells it to, "come on!" It started a couple weeks ago on a Saturday I was watching some basketball on the couch and she kept going into our bedroom and running out to jump on me as she screamed, "AAAAHHHHHH! Volcano!"

Then she would inform me that the Volcano was going to get her.

One of her favorite episodes of Little Einstein's which we have on DVD talks about a Volcano, she frequently asks to watch that particular episode because it is also about a Bald Eagle.

The running from the Volcano persisted until one night I told her that Volcano wouldn't hurt her and that Volcano was her friend, since then she will say, "Volcano! Stay here!" As she is leaving the room. The other day my ribs were hurting and she asked if I need a band aid, I said yes to play along and thankfully she was able to ask Volcano for a band aid, which he was more than happy to provide. Not only that but now every night she tells Volcano to come to bed with her. Even now as I am typing this I am hearing her talk to Volcano in her bed in between her singing "ABCDLPU"

Grandma

I have known since grade school of my lineage on my fathers side that we have stretched it all the way back to a well known Indian princess named Pocahontas. However whenever I would share this information with friends they never believed me and sadly I never had the actual written proof. Now I just recieved an email from my Uncle Cal (Dad's brother) who gave me the lineage.

Pocahontas married John Rolfe in 1614 and then died in 1617. Son Thomas Rolfe, married Jane Poythress, and they had a daughter Jane Rolfe, who married Col. Robert Bolling. They had a son named John Bolling, who married Mary Kennon. They had a daughter named Mary Bolling, who married John Fleming, and they had a daughter named Mary Fleming, who married William Bernard. They had a daughter Catherine Bernard, who married William Bennett. They had a son William J Bennett, who married Elizabeth Bell. They had a son named Hiram Bell Bennett, and he married Martha Smith. They had a daughter named Emily Jane Bennett, who married John Aikens Smith. They had a daughter named Martha Eliza Smith, who married David Earl Shawcroft. They had a daughter named Alice Shawcroft who married Ned Guymon. They had three sons Michael Ned, Calvin Earl, and Jimmie Vernet who have all had wonderful children who are ancesters of Pocahontas the daughter of Chief Powhatan.

Random

Sorry for the lack of posts. Occasionally my life begins to feel rather repetitious and it seems as though there is nothing to really talk about or to blog about. I suppose I will give a little up date as to what I've been up to. Last weekend we took a trip to Dallas to visit my brother and to play in the Doug Johnson hoop Night Memorial game. We ended up staying in a Motel 6 which was Hannah's first time to stay in a hotel, and she was really excited about it. This is one of the first years that I have actually played decent. The first game I ended up hitting four threes in a row and I also hit a lay-up and a short jump shot. The second game I hit one three and a lay-up. Then the third game I knocked down two threes and another lay-up. Then my last game I only scored two points and missed four threes and we lost.

We left Dallas Sunday afternoon and got home in time to catch the Super bowl and heat up some buffalo wings. The Super Bowl was insane, I didn't really care who won, because I had been going for The Colts and The Cowboys, so since both of those teams were not playing, i didn't really care. The Super Bowl was pretty slow and boring until the craziness started happening in the fourth quarter. The commercials were rather disappointing this year. I suppose my favorite commercial was the one with the screaming stain on the guys shirt.

IN OTHER NEWS:

Basketball:
In a BONEHEAD move Steve Kerr decided that for some reason Phoenix needed an old tired injured Shaq-Fu. Not sure what special kind of stupid Steve Kerr is for making that decision...

Also the BIG trade was Pau Gasol (who I HATE) went to the Lakers. For some reason this received a lot of hype and praise from everyone thinking that this will make the Lakers a championship team. To me this trade made no sense at all. Let me explain. The Lakers have a big 7 footer who is 19 years old named Andrew Bynum, the entire season he has averaged a double double double in points and rebounds. Infact all I I have heard is how great he has been playing and this is his breakout season. So then we look at Pau Gasol, who is averaging just under a double double in points and rebounds, and is a much softer version of a center. Where as Andrew Bynum is more of a physical player. So IF Andrew Bynum is SOOOO good, then why do they need a guy who is going to play the same position as him, averaging roughly the same numbers but some how he is "the answer"

I'M NOT BUYING IT!

In other annoyances going on in the NBA, they released the 2008 ALL*STAR team, where for some strange odd annoying reason a guy who has won 2 MVP's in a row, and is no doubt the BEST point guard in the NBA did NOT appear on the starting five. Yes I am talking about Steve Nash! Moving forward with that last years MVP Dirk Nowitzki also some how did not make the starting five. This has me scratching my head in shock and amazement. If you look back, Steve Nash has not been on the starting 5 of an ALL*STAR team.

Movies:
We've watched a few movies, I can't remember all of them but i will list the ones I can remember.

1.) 3:10 To Yuma: I bought this movie without even watching it. I had already heard a lot of positive things about the movie, plus westerns remind me of my dad, so why not. So we watched it and I don't regret buying it one bit. It was a great movie with a surprise ending. I've never seen the original so I'm not sure how alike they are. I want to check out the original one now though.

2.) The Game Plan: I didn't even finish this one, we really rented it for Hannah, cause she fell in love with the cover and HAD to have it. When we put it on she wasn't very interested and neither was I.

3.) Sydney White: This movie was decent for what it was. I think Amanda Bynes over plays her parts. It's ok for these teeney bopper movies, but if she ever wants a solid acting career she really needs to learn how to act.

4.) Mr. Woodcock: Not nearly as funny as I was expecting in fact if you saw the previews that is the most laughing you will get out of the movie. It wasn't very good in my opinion.

5.) Good Luck Chuck: It was decent but again not as funny as I was expecting it to be. It was better than Mr Woodcock though.

6.) The Heart Break Kid: This is definetly an AUDULT comedy, with that in mind it made me laugh but got kinda annoying and some of the jokes got old for me. It was "eeehhh" movie for me.

7.) Hairspray: Wasn't as bad as I expected, whenever movies like that get a lot of hype I have learned to seriously doubt them. That is why it took us so long to actually break down and rent it. Heather REALLY liked it, and it was worth watching in my opinion, not something I would be anxious to watch a second time though.

8.) Balls of Fury: This movie was funny, my brother Matt LOVED the movie and so I rented it awhile back and watched it. The only thing bad I can really say about the movie is it seemed like they really wanted Jack Black to have the leading roll in it, but for some reason they couldn't get him so they got a guy and told him to act like Jack Black. So it was still funny, but through out the entire movie I kept thinking, "why is this dude trying to be Jack Black?" It's worth watching, and it will make you laugh a lot, and Christopher Walken is hilarious in it.

Hannah:
We've been wanting to get Hannah enrolled in a soccer league but had our doubts on weather or not she would really like it. So Heather recently found a soccer class, and today was Hannah's first day and she LOVED it. So hopefully in the next year we can get Hannah onto a team.

Love

"Love is the security for which children weep, the desire of youth, the cement that binds marriage, and the smoothing oil that prevents devastating friction in the home; it is the peace of old age, the sunlight of hope shining through death."
--Gordon B. Hinckley

I'm going to miss his soft shaky yet powerful voice.

A Beloved Prophet Passes Away

I had a link about it last night in my side bar in the "Net Worthy" section. But then I thought how many people that come to my blog really ever even look at that area. So I felt that Gordon deserved more respect than a measly little link on my sidebar. So he gets a full fledged entry.

To read full details on the story and his life click on the image above (or the link in the sidebar.)

I was laying down with Hannah trying to get her to fall asleep. I think she was actually REALLY close, because she had remained still for a fair amount of time, she quit hitting my forhead and whispering, "Dad! Dad!" Then asking me to tickle her back, arm, or leg. She also quit kicking me in my back, and she refrained from pushing any buttons on her singing stuffed animals. When Heather threw the door open breaking all of the silence and in a loud voice said, "Shane, my friend jsut told me President Hinckley died."

Hannah and me both popped our head up, and I told Hannah to stay in bed and go to sleep, and that I had to go talk to mom. Well with her door cracked open a bit and us in the next room on the computer and Heather on her phone calling different people (she talks VERY loudly when on the phone.) This of course caused quite a ruckus, so Hannah began playing with toys again, and all of a sudden she yelled for both her mom and dad, she said, "Mom, Dad I pooped!"

Sure neough she did, so she hopped down from bed, and came into the other room and I changed her diaper. Heather carried her back to bed, but she kept getting back down, as far as she was concerned everyone was still awake and having fun, so why not her. Heather tried and tried to go back in the room and tell her she had to go to bed, she kept yelling back, "NO! I don't want to go to bed!"

Finally I returned back to the bed and laid beside her tickling her back, arms and legs. I actually fell asleep when Heather came barging in again and saw Hannah sitting up in bed and told her she needed to go to bed. So I left, and Hannah cried and complained a bit and finally fell asleep around 11:00.

Heather and I went and laid in bed and finally fell asleep around 12:00 -12:30.

Anyways it was very bitter sweet to hear the news, and I had to get some sort of confirmation of it, before I could actually believe it. I'm happy that he has returned home, and returned to be with his wife once again. I'm happy he can finally rest from the struggles that this life brings. I'm sad that I will not hear him speak, and be apart of the great work which he was doing on this earth for humanity as a whole. He was a very humble, smart, spiritual, loving, and humorous man. When he spoke you could feel his sincere heart, and the love he had for ALL people regardless of race, religion, or nationality. He tirelessly trotted across the globe with a tremendous work ethic both for his age, and for any person in general. He was a true leader by example and will be missed by millions.

Nice Shirt

I'm laying down on my side her nose is two inches or so from mine. I can feel the air when she breathes, though she is breathing softly. Her arm is extended and I am tickling it softly as we are laying in bed in the dark. The room is only lit by a small Disney Princess night light. When her little finger extends to touch my shirt and she says, "I like your shirt. Did you where that to work?

So I told her thank you and proceeded to lay with her tickling her arm for a little while before she went to bed. She talked about a few other things as well. I thought that was so funny and random though. Infact a few minutes later she told me she liked my shirt again.

I'm A Pony! I'm A Pony!

Here's a friendly little photo of me and Hannah playing ride the horsey. this was the game Hannah wanted to play with me on Christmas eve. Somehow Heather managed to grab the camera and sneak in a few photos of us in action. Then proceeded to make fun of me for how "into it" I was. What that means is that if sound could be attached to a photo you would hear my weak attempt at mimicking a horse, while Hannah pulled back on my shirt and likewise made horsey sounds.

Anyways the real reason to show the photo is to let you know that this image and many many many many more have recently been uploaded to my Flickr account, so feel free to see exactly how our Christmas went. (Yeah I know I'm a little late with uploading these photos...)

Frustration

I HATE Internet Explorer, and Microsoft which specifically means Bill Gates. Seeing as how Microsoft and Bill Gates are the reason that the majority of people use Internet Explorer, not necessarily as a choice but more out of laziness and convenience. You buy your computer and Internet Explorer is already on the computer with your nifty little buggy Windows operating system. You click on the icon and it opens up and appears to work sufficiently. Mean while the web designers in the world are having to spend too many hours trying to get their websites to behave the way they do in EVERY other browser known to man, but for some retarded reason it won't work in Internet Explorer 5 & 6. I'm not really sure why this should even be a problem since Internet Explorer has already been readily available for free to the world for a couple of years now. Internet Explorer is set to be released sometime this year or in the near future, but for some reason their is a large quantity of people who still use an in adequate browser.

The other question is why every other company that designs browsers has created a browser that reads and interprets code the way the code is written. It is only Internet Explorer that decides to interpret the code differently, and decides to ignore different aspects of code, which forces web designers to come up with all types of tricks and shenanigans to make the browser understand and cooperate.

So this humble message from a young frustrated soul goes out to the vast and infinite abyss of the world wide web, that everyone viewing this post at this time, if you are viewing it with internet explorer please follow this link to enlightenment and together we can eradicate this horrible disease that has been plaguing our computers.

Massaging My Mind

This past week some smooth melodic tunes from Bishop Allen have been massaging my mind while I slave away at coding valid XHTML & CSS, and busting out funky fresh print worthy designs. As far as I know their is no religious affiliation other then they are feeding your soul with innovative sounds.

Just incase I wasn't clear enough, I think you should stop what you are doing and CLICK HERE. to get take a listen for yourself.

Infact you may have already heard part of one of the songs as it is featured on a new commercial for a digital camera.

Movies Over Christmas

I was able to watch a few movies while on my Christmas vacation.

Bourne Ultimatum: I really enjoyed this installment of the trilogy. I've enjoyed all of the Bourne movies, and this one was exactly what I was expecting and more.

The Simpsons: It was pretty much a longer episode, and since I love the normal episodes I loved the movie. (good thing we bought it.)

Harry Potter: And the Order of the Phoenix: I hated teh first Harry Potter, I've tried watching it three times and have never been able to make it all the way through. I've NEVER read any of the books, mainly because I'm not a big reader, for some reason, probably because of all the hype surrounding both the books and the movie every time one is newly released I always have an interest in watching the movies. Each and every movie becomes better and better to me. So I've been waiting to se this one, and I really enjoyed it. The actors are all developing, and improving, and so are the directors. also the graphics seem to keep getting better and better.

Helvetica: This was a documentary about Helvetica, which is a font. The interesting thing about Helvetica is that it is heavily used all over the world since it was designed in the 1950's by a Swiss type designer. The documentary was well filmed, and edited. They interviewed some GREAT designers, and type designers. It is also accompanied by some really great modern music. I am a weird guy, I get excited over fonts, I collect them, I'm able to name them as I see them on bill boards, commercials, and signs, and in movies. What I'm really trying to say is that I LOVED this film. I have been following this film ever since they first announced they were making it. So I have been VERY anxious for it to be released on DVD. Blockbuster online wasn't carrying it, but Netflix was, so I joined Netflix JUST so I could rent this movie.

Bratz: Terrible, terrible, terrible. This movie shouldn't even of been in theaters. It should of been a made for the Disney Chanel movie. It's about as good as Cheeta Girls. I didn't even finish watching it. I'm sure most of you reading are probably thinking, "What did you expect?" Well I didn't expect much, however I have always been a fan for cheesy highschool movies. some of my favorites are, 10 Things I Hate About You, Teaching Mrs. Tingle, Jawbreaker, Mean Girls, Highschool Musical, A Cinderella Story, What A Girl Wants, She's The Man, Ferris Bueller's Day Off (that is good enough.) Anyways BRATZ was TERRIBLE!

Hot Rod: Yes, I watched it again. It was just as funny!

It's 2008 (finally)

I'm still wondering where my flying car is, and my hover board that "Back to the future 2" teased me with. Not to mention my self sizing jacket with an air conditioner and heater inside. Maybe next year though...

At least we have the iphone though right?

Anyways my life has gone a little something like this:
We woke up at 7:20 am Christmas morning and let Hannah open her presents from "Santa" She only was REALLY thrilled about two, so we had to open those right away. Then we packed up our car and with those two special presents and headed over a couple rivers and through some woods, and then kept going, and going, and going, then over some more rivers to the point where you think you can not go any further without seeing some sort of human existence to grandmothers house. All joking aside Buna isn't THAT bad, of course I could NEVER live there, small towns just aren't for me, but I NEVER mind visiting.

Christmas night Hannah ran a fever and woke up in the middle of the night to throw up. The next day we got her into a local nurse practitioner, who diagnosed her with a sinus infections and prescribed some medicine. The rest of that day she was her normal self, and didn't run fever at all. Until 2:00 am she had a slight fever and we gave her some motrin and it went away until 8:00 am when she woke up to throw up again, and had a fever and we gave her motrin but it did nothing, and her fever kept slowly climbing. We finally got her into the doctor again, and she had a 104.7 fever. The took her clothes off had her eat a popsicle and gave her some motrin and Tylenol, and slowly the fever came down and they gave her a chest x-ray and took some blood, then found out she had pneumonia, and gave her a painful shot in her butt, to where she said, "They hurt the butt."

She hasn't had a fever over 101 since. We left Sunday morning and Saturday night I started to get congested, and through out the night my throat began to hurt, and i woke up with my body hurting and my head feeling ready and willing to explode. So the ride home was decent, Hannah did good both ways in the car. We got home and I unpacked the car and by that time a my body was still in pain and it just got worse and worse. I tried taking some Dayquill, which did NOTHING, then at night I tried Nightquill which again did nothing but at least it made me drowsy. I woke up the next day and went to work after taking Hannah to the doctor for another check up. Anyways the pain continued through work and the fever as well. Last night I took some Motrin myself and that seemed to get rid of the fever and some of the aches and pains. Most of the day today was spent fairly fever free without medicine and I thought Iw as doing better until 5:00 pm hit and I started to slowly feel like CRAP again.

It seems every year around this time i always get sick with something...

Happy New Year to everyone!

Back In The Day

The other day I found this great treasure on YouTube. My brothers and I used to watch this show ALL the time on Nickelodeon back in the day. I wish they still had shows like this on Nickelodeon. Anyways there are actually three of these videos and I don't feel like posting all three. so if you want just click on the link below and then you should be able to find the other two and be able to watch the entire episode.

Enjoy

Leave a comment if you also were a fan of You Can't Do That On Television.

Santa Clause Is Coming To Town

Merry Christmas, to all you Christmas celebrating people out there. We are making preparations for Santa to come into town in the wee hours of the night tonight. Hannah is getting excited. We are leaving tomorrow to head out to the outer limits of Texas to the land far far away they call Buna.

We've watched a few movies the last little while that are worth recommending:

The Waitress: This movie is great for moms, and any parents. It was a very clever movie with a great feel good story.

Well now I can't remember all of the other movies I was going to talk about. The only other movies I can remember, I have either already told you about or they weren't any good, for instance:

Bratz: Could of been a made for TV movie, on the Disney Channel or something.

Hot Rod: A great movie that I already recommended to everyone. Heather hadn't seen it so we rented it.

The movie I rented and can't wait to watch is Helvetica, only Heather isn't so excited about watching it, but I plan on watching it tonight for sure. I also am planning on watching Bourne Ultimatum, and Harry Potter at some point during the week.

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday.

In The Wee Hours

Around 4:00 am a small voice began to filter its way through my mind awakening me from my slumber. There was a lot of chatter going on, you could almost call it a conversation. Only one little girl was invovled. I was unable to make out most of what was being discussed, either that or my memory is failing me. What I was able to understand was,

"OH NO!"

"Hold on I'll get Daddy"

then a much louder voice yelled out, "DAAADDDY!"

This call repeated four or five times until I rolled myself out of bed and walked quietly towards the small voice. I opened the doorway to see the cutest little blue eyed girl standing up in her bed and as I walked through the door she looked up at me and said, "Oh, there''s Daddy."

"It's dark."

"The dark is gonna get me."

I then tried to tell her the "dark" was not going to get her, but she insisted that it was going to get her and her little friends (her toys.) So I asked her if she wanted to come lay down with daddy so I could protect her. She shook her head yes, and began to scan her bed for who else she wanted to save. So she grabbed Frosty the snow man (a present from Grandma Karren.) her blanket and her pillow in a princess pillowcase.

she remained quiet but very much awake for another hour or so in bed laying on-top of me or directly beside me. At one point there was a rumbling noise in the bed, then I felt two small hands grab me by my face and jerk my head to the left until I opened my eyes to see two big blue eyes staring back at me and the small voice said, "I farted."

Then she rolled over and tugged at her mom, and said, "Hey Mom, I farted."

At some point she fell back asleep and none of us woke up again until 8:00 am, where I had to jump out of bed and rush to get ready for work, so I could battle my way through a day of coming up with mind numbingly creative logos for a Dentist.

Career Designs by Andrea

Friday I finished up the last few tweaks and took another website live. both of you reading are prolly thinking, "who cares," Which is a very valid thought, who does care. Well besides me, I guess the client cares. Other than that the only real reason I am posting about it, besides the fact I think I did a mighty fine job is because this is the first site I finished designing that isn't for a dentist.

Enjoy.

Hannah

A week or so ago Heather got Colleen Bontrager, one of her friends from church to take a few pictures of Hannah at the park. We had no clue how this was going to go. A month or so ago we tried taking pictures in the same outfit at JCPennies, but Hannah freaked out, and it didn't work out at all. I have to admit that I was doubting these pictures were going to work. I have taken my fair share of pictures of Hannah. I am ALWAYS trying to get her to pose for pictures, and it never works out. So I just have to take them in the flow, and if I try to be quick and catch the cute faces, or the cute actions.

However if you take a few minutes out of your day and click on the photo above and check out the pictures that Colleen Bontrager took of her, you will see what a wonderful job she did. Not only her, but you will see how well Hannah did. Hannah actually posed in multiple photos. Although I seem to enjoy the ones where she wasn't posing, because I see pictures of frozen memories, so it always seems that the real Hannah only comes out in her natural habitat, which has nothing to do with a pose. I believe the photo above was my favorite of the bunch, at the same time they were ALL good, and I really appreciate her taking them for us.

The Weekend

I know it's the middle of the week and all, but I actually wrote this Sunday night. So get over it...

So this weekend we decided to watch some movies. It all started off on Friday when we went and rented Super Bad. I was cracking up throughout the whole movie. I suppose it was a little too much for Heather, and she didn't really enjoy it. I'm already ready to watch the movie for a second time. Several things about the movie reminded me of when I was in high school, maybe it's because I was a dork as well, and was scared to talk to girls, I don't know. There's a lot of cussing in the movie, and a bit of crude humor, but all in all it made for some good laughs.

Saturday we decided to travel down to San Antonio, to visit my family. My sister Kelly was in town with her two kids, Trevor & Lauren (we forgot our camera, like always.) So we decided to make the trip so Hannah could play with her cousins. I'm trying my hardest to offer Hannah the life I wished I would of had. A life where you actually know your extended family. Where you actually know your aunts and uncles, and your cousins and stuff. It gets tough when everyone lives in different cities, and some in different states, even different countries. But I am trying...

So anyways while we were there, me and my two brothers, Matt & Ethan decided to watch, Hot Rod, they had both already scene it, but for me it was my first time. I think Hot Rod might of been funnier than Super Bad. I was laughing so much my stomach started to hurt, and I got a small head ache. Also it was PG-13, which made it all the laughs without the naughty language.

We got home around 8:30 Saturday night and Hannah was exhausted, so we put her to bed and me and Heather cuddled up in bed and started to watch Pirates of the Caribbean, At Worlds End. We bought the movie on the motive that we already owned the other two. So we were hoping that the writers and directors made the smart choice and just let the movie end on a good note, and give us our moneys worth. Not to mention the ending to this third installment was really the ending of the second one. I was already disappointed that they decided to all of a sudden do a "to be continued" crap in the second one, when the first one was a complete movie. I thought that was already a creative flaw from the get go. Anyways I stayed patient and kept my hopes alive that they would in the end deliver the ending I had hoped for. Instead I was GREATLY disappointed, and left wanting my 4 hours of life back. Sure it had moments where I was entertained, but the ending SUCKED!

Actually to be honest with everyone reading, and by everyone I mean both of you, if the ending to the third would of been the ending to the second, I wouldn't of been half as disappointed. Since it wasn't I have to say that both the second and third one both suck. So now I own three movies, when really I only like the first. In fact I think I need to watch the first one again tonight, so that I can feel better about wasting my life watching the other two.

Holiday Desktop Love

Currently at work I have decorated my desktop with the latest in Christmas attire. At the same time allowing me to be educated on the different variations of Santa Clause's in different parts of the world. So I think you should to. Learned.

"We get better design when we understand our medium. Yet even at this late cultural hour, many people don’t understand web design. Among them can be found some of our most distinguished business and cultural leaders, including a few who possess a profound grasp of design—except as it relates to the web."

This past year I have been able to learn quite a bit about designing web pages, this is not to say in any way that I have perfected this skill, just vastly improved. I began learning how to design websites briefly in high school in 1998. I took a Computer Arts course, which basically covered any and everything the teacher herself could get her hands on regarding art on a computer. The class first started with simple exercises in a program called PC Paint. From there she moved us to learning a basic understanding of Photoshop, and the class seemed to learn along with the teacher. So we would usually start a project, and never finish them, because the teacher would learn something new and want to share it with the class. At the end of the year we lightly touched web design, and it was all done in Word. Which I look back now and find it hilarious, because I was super excited about it, and really would talk to people as if I seriously knew how to design a website. The site I did build was like filled with scrolling and blinking text, and I thought it was so sweet...

Moving forward the real lesson on the web came in my Intro to Web class in college. This is where I learned the basics of HTML, and tables. I even learned and built a site totally in frames. However I was more sold on the idea of designing sites using tables. The reason I enjoyed tables (I think) was because of how similar it was to the grid. The grid is something that was taught to us in all of my other design classes, as far as designing anything in the print world. Seeing as how my degree was in Print Graphic Design, and not interactive. I quickly became obsessed with typography and learning to design in the Grid system.

Print is wonderful because as a designer you have complete control over every aspect of the design. You have complete control over the text, from the font, to the kerning, letter spacing, leading, and basically the entire presentation is controlled. All throughout school I continued to expand my knowledge of the web on my own. It wasn't until this year that I finally broke away from the table comfort zone of web design. Whereas now I have been fully converted to the Web Standards movement.

It wasn't until recently meaning this year that I realized one of my biggest road blocks in progressing as a web designer was that I treated the web the same way I treated Print. I designed my websites as if I was designing something that would be printed. I would design a site but only focus on the design of the actual content area, ignoring the rest of the screen. I would then build the sites so that it would look exactly as my "ai" or "psd" file. Sometimes that meant the entire site was almost completely made out of images. Which was great for me personally, but the end user I was not so friendly to. I never took in mind designing for the end user, nor did I take into consideration that not everyone had the same computer as me, nor the same browser that I had. I also didn't take into mind the different disabilities of people, and because of this none of my sites were accessible. I also never took into consideration the entire screen regardless of what resolution or screen size the end user would be viewing the site. The background was always a last minute thought and something just thrown in. Now I take the entire screen into consideration and make the website one fluid design.

This past year I have learned that designing for the web is NOTHING like designing for print, they are two totally different aspects, however they do share some basic design principles in making them successful. However when designing a website you have to think past total control of context, and think more about the end user. You have to take into consideration that a website needs to be optimized, and search engine friendly, as well as easy to navigate, which means each page will load quickly and efficiently. Every action of the site should be simple, and virtually effortless. When working with the web you have to remember that the end user has so much control and also NEEDS a lot of control so that the site will function best for them. So for that reason their are quite a few limitations to web design. At first these limitations used to discourage me, but it was really my print design mentality of needing and wanting that total control over my work.

I find designing for the web challenging in a beautiful way. I enjoy the limitations and find that the limitations are greatly out weighed by the benefits they bring the end user. Designing a site to Web Standards makes a site much more highly accessible by various users. Why would any business owner say no to more visitors? The site will also be faster, and function in a timely manner regardless of weather someone is still in the stone ages of dial up or not. It will improve search engine rankings as well, and who wouldn't want that?

It's funny because most of the benefits to the sites I have designed lately go totally undetected to the client and whoever is viewing the site. Only the people that take a look at the site under the trunk, and are able to comprehend what is happening under the trunk truly are able to appreciate it. For example, for the most part edits on the site are done in a much more timely and efficient manor. This is one of the HUGE benefits that goes unnoticed.

The web is a completely different world, for this purpose I believe that is why most great web designers primary focus is designing web pages. Some web design superstars started out as print designers and have since almost completely left the world of print and now only work with the intraweb. I think that is almost a testament to how vastly different the two mediums are. I think if you really want to grow and develop yourself as a web designer you need to focus solely on web design. I think having a background in print is definitely beneficial because a lot of the principles of design in general are a huge benefit and give you a very strong foundation, but first you have to accept the fact that it is a different world and you have to accept the fact that you can't have total control. After you are able to accept these facts you are well on your way to being teachable and ready to grow and develop as a web designer. I am just starting this process myself, however I am still unsure of weather I want to totally leave behind print, and focus on web. I really love the world of print, and I'm not sure I am ready to give up the control just yet...

Friday Funk

All day today I've been in some sort of a funk making it difficult to do my job as I am unable to come up with creative solutions. Seeing as how I get paid to come up with such solutions, I could of been considered virtually worthless.

It's been an interesting week, and I suppose it has taken it's mental toll on me in the end. Hopefully this weekend will be a good one, and I can come back Monday refreshed, recharged, and ready...

Holidays!

Little Einsteins from Shane Guymon on Vimeo.

Thanksgiving went well for us. We decided to make a short hop and a skip to San Antonio (Live Oak) to spend thanksgiving with my mom. Mark (and it was his birthday!) and his family were also planning on making the voyage, and Matt is living in San Antonio again right now, so that brings all the boys home with their mom. Our car performed beautifully the entire trip (as of today it is still in the shop baffling the minds of the mechanics.) there and back. Ethan fried two turkeys and my mom baked another. Along with that my mom slaved in the kitchen making mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, rolls, and sweet potatoes. So anyways Mark showed up a little late with his family, but other than that, it was nice to see everyone and spend a little time with everyone. Hannah also enjoyed playing with her cousins, and still misses them.

We got back that night, and the next morning decided to put up the Christmas Tree, and all other decorations as well as watch some Christmas classics like, "Rudolph The Red Nosed Rain Deer," and other cheesy holiday movies on "The Family Channel." We also decided to make a trip to the mall on "Black Friday" where we ended up spending about 40+ dollars on Hannah at the Disney store. Her favorite cartoon of all time is Little Einstein's and when she saw all four of the characters she picked each up and called them by name in a very excited tone of amazement. Before we knew it she was hugging all four at once and looking up at us with her big blue eyes. We tried to get her to only pick one or two of her favorites, because when she first walked in, she became equally excited with a play, tea set, with a serving cart included, which was on sale for $20.00. The Little Einstein's were being sold for 2 for $10. Hannah insisted on having to have everything, and being that I was all Christmasfied with the decorations and movies and such, well we traveled home with them all.

Movies I watched:

Live Free or Die Hard: Awesome action, and a decent story!
Meet The Robinson's: I found it enjoyable, Hannah wasn't too entertained.
Shreck 3: We bought it before watching it, which I don't regret, but I also didn't find it as entertaining as the first two.

Movie Update

Well I've been watching quite a few movies, and haven't been updating. So now my memory is failing me a bit, so for some of these you won't get more than a sentence out of me. Anyways here we go...

Next: I enjoyed this movie, it was pretty good. Not the greatest movie ever, but I didn't feel like it was a total waste of time.

Surf's Up: This movie isn't really for little kids, but it was pretty good. I'm not a surfer by any means, but I've always enjoyed surfing movies.

I Think I Love My Wife: Not as funny as I was expecting, but it also wasn't a terrible movie. I don't think I would ever watch it again though.

Kickin It Old School: This is one of those movies that is funny for like the first 30 minutes, but then it's pretty much all the same type of jokes, and so it get's old really fast, and you already know how it's going to end, so yeah, that about sums up this movie for me...

Spider Man 3: I was NOT too impressed. I will repeat the same things alot of others have said. It had very poor character developement. They should of stuck with one, maybe two villans, and not THREE. Then when Spider Man is being taken over by the venomouse black substance, it get's EXTREMELY cheesy, and doesn't seem to fit in well with the over all tone of the movie. It just seems out of place, and unbelievable. Sure their are some cool aspects of the movie, and overall I am not regreting watching the movie, at the same time I won't be purchasing the movie, and I doubt I will ever have the desire to watch it again.

Oceans 13: This movie was GREAT, however I have enjoyed all of the Ocean's movies, including the originals. I do want to purchase this movie, and I would love to watch this movie multiple times. It was a very enjoyable movie. It's clever, funny, witty, and the cinemotagraphy was well done, and the acting was superb, I also enjoyed the plot and the story.

In The Box

The BEST fast food burger out right now is the 100% sirloin burger from Jack In The Box. Pictured above is my personal favorite which is number 2 on their menu only on Cibata bread with grilled onions and swiss cheese. It comes in a monster of a box, and it is a monster of a burger (in comparison to other fast food burgers.) For the regular meal and no upsizing it's going to run you a good 6 bucks. As for me I don't really need very many french fries to contend with battling my hunger, just the burger alone seems to do the trick, and it did just that last night when hunger declared battle around 7:30pm.

Score:
Jack In The Box= 1
Hunger= 0

Family Photo

For the first time in 5 years we went and took a family photo. Hannah did good enough to get some decent pictures out of her. She wasn't too thrilled with any of it, with that being said she also didn't want to leave because they had a lego table and she enjoys building castles and trains with legos. It was fun though, and I really enjoyed the results. I should scan these bad boys into the computer, but we already framed them and hung them up, so I tried my best to take pictures where I limited the glare so you could actually see the photos.
